TANNING Q+A with AMY Q: Where are you located? A: I come to you! I offer on-location appointments in the greater Los Angeles area. Usually I tan clients at their homes, workplace or hotel. Q: Where do we do it? A: Ideally I need around 4x6 feet of floor space to set up my portable tent. A well lit area is preferred. Outside is even better. Q: When should I book the appointment? A: 1-2 days before your event is best. Take into consideration that the tan takes 8 hours to develop before you can shower. Q: How do I prepare for a spray tan? A: I recommend showering beforehand and giving your skin a good scrub. Waxing should be done at least 1 day prior. Before the tan's applied your skin needs to be free of makeup, lotion, sunscreen and deodorant. (Facial moisturizer without sunscreen is okay) Q: How long does it take? A: I'll arrive at the time scheduled then set up. The tan takes 10-15 minutes to apply. The entire appointment will take around 30 minutes. Q: When can I shower? A: It takes approximately 8 hrs for the tan to develop before you can get water on your skin. This includes washing your hands and face. Q: How long will it last? A: It will last for about a week. Applying lotion daily will keep your skin hydrated and help your tan last. To maintain an even tan avoid scrubbing your skin in the shower or when towel drying. Q: When can I get dressed? A: Since I dry as I go, you can get dressed right away. Have something loose and lightweight to put on afterwards and wear for the duration on your tan development (8 hrs). Something like dark sweatpants and long sleeve T-shirt. Q: Will it stain my clothes/sheets? A: The formula is organic and washes out of most fabrics. Avoid silk and light colors after being sprayed. Q: Will it smell? A: There is little or no scent after the application. If you detect a slight "tanning" formula smell the next day, a scented body lotion does the job of hiding this. Q: What type of solution do you use? A: I use an organic Aloe based tanning formula. Q: Will it look orange? A: Never. The tanning solution I use is a golden hue. It looks like the color you get from a sun tan. Q: How dark will it be? A: I customize the color to create the tan you want, from light golden to deep bronze. Q: What about my hands/feet? A: I spray hands and feet last, paying attention to every detail. I'll apply barrier cream to protect your nails and palms, and give you sticky foot pads to protect the soles of your feet. Afterwards I remove the pads, wipe nails and blend if needed. Q: What about tan lines? A: You can tan nude, in a thong, underwear, or bathing suit. Just keep in mind your tan lines will last for a week. (personally I like having a tan line to show off!) Q: How does it come off? A: It will gradually lighten after a week. At 5-7 days you should start to gently exfoliate your skin when showering with a mitt or loofah.
